Small Doctor Released on Bail by Magistrate Komolafe

Nigerian Popular Hip pop musician, Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as “Small Doctor” who was arrested on Monday alongside with some of his band members who were with him in the vehicle at Oshodi area of Lagos State, has been released on bail on Tuesday by the Chief Magistrate,  Abimbola Komolafe, of an Ebute -Metta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos. It was learnt that the bail accompanied a strong warning that the artiste should not engage in any violent act for the next one year. Small Doctor was arrested on the account of unlawful possession of a firearm and publicly assaulting and threatening a police officer.

Small Doctor was released after being admonished to be of good behaviour. Other respondents  who were counselled to be of good behaviour by Magistrate Komolafe, in a civil suit marked 3564/2018 are: Dare Osho, Sanusi Lateef and Hussein Darego. The magistrate gave the advice while she was delivering and ruling in a motion ex parte brought before the court by the police from the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID), Panti-Yaba, Lagos, seeking a binding order against the musician and others. During the hearing of the case Wednesday, Small Doctor was represented by Mr Yakubu Eleto, Akeem Shittu and other lawyers.

The police in a motion ex parte filed and argued by Barrister Cyril Ajifor, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), asked the court for an order requiring the superstar music artist and other respondents to execute or enter into a recognizance with sureties to keep the peace in Shogunle and its environs of Lagos, for a period of one year and should not for that period engage, recruit, instigate or incite any member of the community to cause breach of public peace or disturb peace within or outside the community. And any other order court may deem fit.

The motion was supported with a seven-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Inspector Kasali Saturani, he stated that the respondents were with a double barrel English made pistol at Shogunle area of the State. ASP Ajifor also told the court that the order sought was brought on three grounds and a written address which stated legal reasons why the court should make an order binding all the respondents.

Small Doctor’s Words after his Release,

The court was said to have ruled in favour of ‘Small Doctor’ because he had a licence to move with a gun. Speaking shortly after his release, the singer, who has been off his social media pages since his arrest, took to his Instagram page to thank Nigerians and his fans for their support while he was in police custody.

The Penalty crooner wrote: “Believe In GOD, All power belongs to God. “Thank you all for the LOVE and Positive Vibe. Omo Better is doing great. #OmoBETTERConcert This Sun Dec 9th Agege Stadium.”

CSP Dolapo Badmus who was so excited upon the release of Small Doctor by the Ebute Metta Magistrate with a stern warning to avoid violence in the next 12 months.
