BREAKING: Former Ekiti State Governor Fayose Escapes Fatal Accident

The former governor of Ekiti State, Governor Ayodele Fayose, earlier on Wednesday, being today the 5th of December 2018  involved in a motor accident on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State. Information reaching the media is that he was with the PDP Chieftain asides his special convoy. This development was made public by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, who tweeted the news on Wednesday.

The media personnel of the former governor, Lere Olayinka, on his verified Twitter handle, has revealed the accident, even as he said that Governor Fayose was in a stable condition and currently receiving and responding to medical treatment in a secured and trusted medical hospital.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) afterwards a special team was set up to interrogate Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State. He also reported at the EFCC  Head Office in Abuja with the commission’s Director of Operations, Umar Mohammed, over the allegation after which he was said to be grilled by a team of operatives.

The former Ekiti state governor, Fayose was held and investigated for allegedly receiving over N1.2bn from a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), through a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro. The money was allegedly handed over to Fayose during the build-up to the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State.

Fayose’s aide, Abiodun Agbele, and others had been arraigned by the EFCC but Fayose was excluded because of his immunity. The governor is expected to be arraigned after investigations. Apart from the alleged N1.2bn fraud, Fayose is also under probe for alleged contract fraud.
