Biafra March – 51 Jewish Worshippers arrested in Abia

Jewish worshippers were staging a peaceful march along some major streets in Umuahia, Abia State, calling for the Jewish nation when the Nigerian Police interrupted and began to arrest them. It was confirmed that 51 of them were placed in detention.

Mr Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident of those arrested with Biafra emblems and they are 10 females and 41 males,

The protesters carried Biafra flags and Israeli flags and they started their march from the Compound of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Security operative was also seen some distance away from them before finally going after them for the arrest.

A convoy of four security patrol vans trailed them as they marched, leaving a distance of about 100 meters away.

Israel Ibe who is one of the protesters said: “Our peaceful march was informed by the need to have a Jewish nation in Biafra land. We need to be allowed, as we are not free being with the Nigeria government.

“You cannot keep yam and goat together. Their culture and religion are not the same with ours. So, there is no need being together, as the time has expired for us to have our own country.”

The Jewish worshiper claimed they inform the police before they began their march.

IPOB urged the Governor and the Police to release them since they are not criminals.
