Atiku Abubakar, the main opposition Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, was missing from the scheduled signing of a peace pact for 2019 Presidential candidates in Abuja on Tuesday.
President Buhari was among the candidates that arrived the venue which takes place at the International Conference Centre. The agreement was designed by the Rtd General Abdulsalami Abubakar peace committee.
The committee was established so as to enable a peaceful process of election throughout the country and for candidates to accept the final result if it is free and fair.
In 2015 a similar path was signed by candidates of the main political parties. This time around the Chairmen of each political party will also be around to sign the documents.
Although it was not clear why Atiku Abubakar was absent, sources claim that they were not aware of the date and time for the signing.
